Abstract

This article presents an overview of the psychotropic medications that are most commonly prescribed for children and adolescents. For each class of drugs (e.g., stimulants, tricyclics), the indications, mechanism of action, efficacy, dosing, and side effects are described. In a detailed table listing over 40 medications, the generic and brand names, main indications, daily dosage range and schedule' adverse effects, and preparations available are presented.
