Abstract
Both bone forearm fractures are common injuries which require a variety of treatment strategies. The typical treatment strategy is surgical to restore length, rotation, and curvature of the radius as well as to provide stability for early motion. Proximal fractures of the radius present a unique challenge. A dorsal approach to the radius affords an excellent view of the posterior interosseous nerve (PIN) and a more proximal exposure of the radius. The critical portion of this approach is the identification of the PIN.
