Abstract
Although the family of prostaglandins has been recognized for nearly 50 years only recently has its possible impact in tumor development and the host response to tumor progression become appreciated more fully. There are many areas that merit careful investigation. In broad terms these include the biologic mechanisms that underlie tumor progression, the host reaction to this progression and resultant possibilities to manipulate these mechanisms to modify processes that may determine tumor survival and dissemination. Neoplasms that involve the urinary tract have shown themselves to be amenable to such study clinicaly as well as experimentally. Further exploration of these often readily accessible systems seems highly indicated.
