Abstract

The case is presented of a primary’ toe–to–thumb transfer by microvascular anastomosis for reconstruction of an acute degloving amputation of the thumb. This approach is not recommended as the standard practice for this type injury, however, there were certain advantages in this patient: (1) one stage procedure, (2) restoration of length, sensibility, and cover, (3) cosmetic improvement, and (4) minimal length of hospitalization.
