Abstract
Thrombosis of the superior longitudinal sinus after closed head injury is extremely rare. The clinical signs and symptoms may simulate encephalitis, intracranial space occupying lesions, cerebrovascular accidents and other disorders of the central nervous system. Diagnosis by carotid arteriography is established when the saggital sinus fails to fill with contrast material while the cortical veins are engorged. The case of an 11 year old boy who presented flaccid left hemiparesis and right pyramidal tract signs after a relatively mild closed head injury is described. The arteriogram was diagnostic. The child recovered completely and during a follow up period of one year no neurological deficit was noted.
