Abstract

Arterial embolization may be stimulated by acute popliteal aneurysm thrombosis, particularly when retrograde extension of the thrombus has occurred and other stigmata of popliteal aneurysms are absent. Transfemoral catheter embolectomy may be attempted under such circumstances. The value of intraoperative arteriography in relation to definitive therapy is stressed.
