Abstract
A sporadic case of Legionella dumoffii pneumonia resulting in fatal respiratory failure is reported. This particular Legionella strain has been described only rarely, but its clinico-pathologic expression (at any rate in this case) did not fundamentally differ from that of other strains and notably the Legionella pneumophila variety. The clinico-pathologic correlations of the disease and some of the difficulties of early clinical diagnosis in sporadic cases are discussed.
