Abstract
A patient with massive plasmacytoma cell ascites as a first sign of recurrence of solitary plasmacytoma of the intestine is described. The tumor first occurred in the jejunum and was resected. The recurrent disease manifested as massive ascites was temporarily resolved with radiation treatment. The case is characterized by the presence of increased IgA and a lack of skeletal or bone marrow involvement. A review of literature indicated that this unusual manifestation appears to emphasize the distinct clinicopathologic feature of IgA secreting plasmacytoma.
