Pituitary adenoma presenting as facial pain: Report of two cases and review of the literature

Two cases of pituitary tumor presenting as facial pain are reported. The first patient presented with Raeder's syndrome and subsequently developed a partial 3rd nerve palsy. The second patient complained of tic douloureux with no localizing neurological deficit. The pertinent literature concerning pituitary tumors presenting as facial pain is reviewed, and the differentiation of idiopathic facial pain from facial pain associated with mass lesions is discussed.
