Abstract

Diverse photochemical behaviour is observed for phenyl-dienyl and phenyl-furanyl non-conjugated bichromophoric systems. Only 2-(2-phenyl-ethyl) buta-1,3-diene and 2-(3-phenylpropyl)buta-1,3-diene yield intramolecular cycloadducts, but the products from neither reflect the expected para - 1,4 attack.
