Abstract
The fluorescence intensity of Sm2+ ions doped in 10Al2O3-90SiO2 glass decreased biexponentially under 488-nm irradiation. The irradiation induced a decrease of optical absorption in the glassy sample, which should be a factor for the photobleaching. An identical mechanism in the photobleaching with that in the spectral hole burning was proposed.
