Abstract

Gallbladder carcinoma is the fifth most common gastrointestinal cancer. It has a female predominance, and its incidence is highest in South America. Its pathogenesis is thought to be mostly related to cascade events related to chronic inflammation. Unfortunately, the overall prognosis of gallbladder cancer is poor.
