Abstract
Parenteral nutrition is an indispensable treatment for a variety of illnesses that may result in malnutrition. Malnutrition alone is a major risk factor for the development of perioperative complications. The appropriate administration and recognition of complications related to parenteral nutrition is of great importance to the anesthesiologist when managing a patient who is suffering from illness associated with malnutrition.
