Abstract

Papular urticaria is an immune-mediated, pruritic papular eruption, most commonly secondary to arthropod assault. In contrast to urticaria, papular urticaria localizes to the site of assault and is more indurated due to the presence of an inflammatory infiltrate. Treatment revolves around blunting the allergic response with antihistamines or topical steroids. Systemic immunosuppression is rarely needed, especially when the offending arthropods can be identified and exterminated.
