N2 - Substance use disorders (SUDs) are frequently stigmatized by society. However, overcoming stigmas to effectively treat SUDs requires acknowledging the developmental path of neural vulnerability. These vulnerabilities begin long before adulthood, providing opportunities to change the trajectory before the disorder becomes entrenched. This article raises attention to reversible epigenetic underpinnings of this vulnerability.
