Abstract

Patients with cancer present with various emergencies and for many it can be the initial presentation of malignancy. Early diagnosis and effective treatment are crucial to prevent morbidity and mortality. The topic of oncologic emergencies is vast but this chapter focuses on four of the most common emergencies: hypercalcemia of malignancy, neutropenic fever, tumor lysis syndrome, and spinal cord compression.
