Older anesthetic agents: Should they be removed from clinical use?

Research output: Contribution to journalComment/debate

Abstract

The recent revolution in anesthetic pharmacology has led to an array of new drugs, each of which purports certain advantages over older, more established agents. Weighing the beneficial properties of newer proprietary drugs versus the lower costs of the classical agents is an issue that all anesthesiologists will have to face with increasing frequency in the managed care era. Two opposing viewpoints on the subject are presented.
