Abstract
The bidirectional transfer of radioiodine-labeled glucagon was investigated in the pregnant ewe late in gestation. Specific immunoprecipitation was used to identify 125I or 131I-glucagon in maternal and fetal plasma following direct injection into the fetus or simultaneous injections into the mother and fetus (dual label experiments). No placental transfer oflabeled glucagon was detected, either in the fetal to maternal direction (5 studies), or in the maternal to fetal direction (2 studies).
