Abstract

The primary goal of nonablative rejuvenation techniques is the improvement of age-related structural changes in skin without the destruction seen in traditional ablative techniques. Theoretically, nonablative devices selectively induce papillary dermal injury and the synthesis of new collagen without the epidermal injury of ablative technology. The minimally invasive nature of nonablative devices is associated with minimal downtime and decreased morbidity, but further study is needed to demonstrate their effectiveness as an antiaging modality.
