Abstract
Non-Hodgkin lymphoma is a diverse group of diseases. They can range from indolent lymphomas that patients can live with for years without treatment to highly aggressive lymphomas with high 5-year mortality rates. When considering a diagnosis of lymphoma it is important to obtain a core needle or excisional biopsy as fine needle aspiration often leads to inconclusive results and a delay in diagnosis. Risk stratifying patients and initiating treatment when necessary is vital to the initial investigation of a patient with a new diagnosis of lymphoma. Emerging therapies and ongoing clinical trials continue to improve outcomes for this patient population.
