Abstract

Neuroimaging may help us understand the mechanism of action of deep brain stimulation for the treatment of psychiatric disorders at existing targets and to explore other targets. To this end, we discuss structural and functional imaging studies of obsessive–compulsive disorder, major depressive disorder, Tourette syndrome, and addiction, and the neuroanatomical changes in these disorders induced by deep brain stimulation.
