Abstract

Aneurysmal subarachnoid hemorrhage (SAH) is a life-threatening emergency. Mortality and morbidity have improved with advances in neurocritical care and endovascular management. Key areas of focus in neurocritical care remain prevention of secondary neurological injury after SAH include early brain injury, cerebral edema, hydrocephalus, vasospasm, seizures, and systemic complications. This chapter will review the epidemiology, clinical presentation, and neurocritical care management of SAH.
