Abstract
The muscles of pinnipeds, sirenians, and cetaceans are described and figured on the basis of the harbor seal, California sealion, and west Indian manatee, and pilot whale. Marine mammals have basically muscles that are built on the same pattern as that of land mammals, but show clear adaptations for aquatic life. Such adaptations include enlarged and reoriented tail muscles for cetaceans and sirenians, for the hind limbs in the phocid seals, and the forelimb in otariids.
