Abstract
In addition, the findings of the current study suggest that girls with nonemployed mothers present a pattern characterized by a more external locus of control (for girls with married mothers, and for African American girls with single mothers) and more shyness and less assertiveness (for girls with single employed mothers). In contrast, daughters of employed mothers appear more assertive, and have more of a sense of internal control.
