Abstract

New models of mental healthcare delivery are rapidly evolving. The need for accessible, high-quality mental health services, the recognition of the interplay between physical and mental health, and the high costs of healthcare are driving much of the impetus for new delivery models. New models emphasize collaborative and joint management of both mental and physical health, with a focus on quality, efficiency, increased access, and decreased cost. This chapter provides a brief overview of current and developing models of mental and behavioral health services, with a case study that illustrates potential pathways of care in differing models.
