Abstract

This chapter explores the importance of delivery planning for patients affected by neurologic disorders. The various physiological changes accompanying pregnancy, particularly the cardiovascular and hemodynamic changes that occur during labor are discussed. Considerations for specific neurological disorders, including neurosurgical versus obstetric indications for cesarean delivery are described in detail. Overall, multidisciplinary consultation in selecting the appropriate mode of delivery is essential for optimizing outcomes.
