Abstract

The effects of doping were investigated with respect to concentration of dopant and sintering temperature. The compound is prepared by a solid-state reaction route sintered in the temperature range from 750 to 825 °C. X-ray diffraction study reveals the existence of a-phase of Bi 4-xPb xV 2O 11-δ compound for all compositions of 0.1 ≤ x ≤ 0.4. However, the formation of solid solution was observed up to x = 0.2. The higher conductivity obtained for x = 0.2 composition of the sample also supports this finding. The scanning electron microscopy study of the samples sintered at various temperatures was done to correlate the effect of sintering temperature on microstructure and ionic conductivity.
