Abstract
Metastatic mediastinal disease can be difficult to differentiate from a new primary lesion, especially when associated with an esophageal fistula and pericardial effusion. This article reviews the incidence and factors involved in metastatic mediastinal disease and contrasts it with metachronous and synchronous malignancies.
