Abstract
Upon completion of the chapter, the student will be able to: 1. Understand the concept of informed consent. 2. Enumerate the components of an informed consent. 3. Appreciate the importance of advance care planning. 4. Differentiate between competency and decision-making capacity and describe the steps in assessing these in older adults.
