Abstract
Ophthalmologists and neurologists often encounter patients with acquired forms of nystagmus. In many such patients, the nystagmus causes disabling visual symptoms that can potentially be alleviated by suppressing the nystagmus. Numerous treatments for acquired nystagmus have been proposed, including medical, optical and surgical treatments, but few have been evaluated in prospective clinical trials. In this article, we review those medical treatments that have been shown to suppress certain acquired forms of nystagmus, with emphasis on those that have been evaluated in clinical trials.
