Abstract

Psychological trauma may, in extreme circumstances, prove so severe that a child's welfare is not served by forcing it upon him or her, even for a clear survival benefit. In order to make such concerns heard in such challenging cases, adolescent psychiatrists desperately need a seat at the table.
