Abstract

The Community Integration Questionnaire (CIQ) was developed as a measure of reassumption of roles, responsibilities, and relationships by persons with traumatic brain injury (TBI). In this article, data from a number of studies relevant to the CIQ's psychometric qualities (reliability, sensitivity, validity, and subscore and total score distributions) are summarized, and its scope, content validity, metric, norms, and age and gender effects on scores are discussed. Recommendations are made for the use of the CIQ, and for research needed to improve the utility of the current measure as well as to develop a better one.
