Abstract
New devices and drugs have expanded the arsenal of techniques for controlling cardiac rhythm disturbances. The first article in a new series outlines basic principles governing electrode catheter ablation of atrioventricular conduction. Subsequent articles will provide updates on pharmacotherapy of ventricular arrhythmias, pacemaker technologies, and surgical approaches.
