Abstract
New advances in breast imaging have changed the way we manage breast cancer. Core biopsies (ultrasound and/or stereotactic guided) provide an easy, cost effective method of diagnosing breast cancer. They are often the primary means of rendering an initial diagnosis. The increasing numbers of core biopsies being seen by the routine pathology practice along with the inherently smaller amount of tissue available presents challenges to pathologic interpretation. By correlating the radiologic picture with the histologic diagnosis, these obstacles can be mastered furnishing a more accurate and specific diagnosis and in the end improving patient care.
