Abstract

To the Editor: In their report on treatment of intractable rheumatoid arthritis with total lymphoid irradiation (October 22 issue), Kotzin et al. state that“There has been no measurable increase in the risk of leukemia or other neoplasms in several hundred patients with Hodgkin's disease who were given total lymphoid irradiation without chemotherapy and who had no evidence of recurrence of disease for up to 10 years.”1 In the same issue of the Journal a similar statement appears in a comparable article by Trentham et al.2 and in an accompanying editorial by McCarty.3 There are at least 20 patients described. . .
