N2 - With the increasing use of coronary computed tomography angiography (CCTA) as a noninvasive tool to evaluate for coronary artery disease, physicians who request, perform, or interpret these studies should be aware of the associated potential risks of ionizing radiation. This article provides an overview of radiation issues in CT, the risks of diagnostic-level ionizing radiation, and strategies that can be adopted to minimize exposure to radiation of patients undergoing CCTA.
