Abstract

Sublobar resections have been demonstrated to provide longer overall survival for certain populations of patients with non-small cell lung cancer. (Altorki et al., The Journal of thoracic and cardiovascular surgery 2014;147:754-62; Cao et al., The Annals of thoracic surgery 2018;105:1483-91) Patients with small tumors may benefit from a parenchyma-sparing segmentectomy in lieu of the more traditional lobectomy. Techniques for various segmentectomies vary. Here, we present the operative steps for a left lower lobe common basal segmentectomy, supplemented by tips, photos, and videos.
