Abstract

We report on an 8-month-old male infant after ingestion of an ecstasy pill (3,4-Methylenedioxymetamphetamine, MDMA) of unknown agent concentration. He was admitted in a generally poor condition, fevered, tachycardic and with increased motor activity. The infant was stabilized by immediate sedation, rehydration therapy and cooling. The first toxication analysis showed a highly elevated level within the lethal range for MDMA. Eight hours after admission the child presented in a neurologically normal condition. After three days of hospitalisation the child was discharged without further complications and follow-up showed a healthy infant.
