Abstract
Deliveries in the emergency department are rare events, but risk of complications is often greater in these patients than in those who present directly to labor and delivery. This chapter will review several obstetric emergencies with corresponding treatments, review indications for emergent delivery, discuss complications of delivery, and discuss several postpartum conditions that should be recognized by emergency physicians.
