Abstract
The myoma pseudocapsule is a complex biological structure that surrounds and separates the uterine myoma from the myometrium. The recognition of this anatomical entity has permitted the development of the laparoscopic myomectomy with intracapsular technique, a new surgical approach that allows the enucleating of myoma from its pseudocapsule in order to preserve the integrity of the uterus. The purpose of this review is to provide a full pathobiological characterization of the myoma pseudocapsule and evaluate the possible benefits derived from intracapsular myomectomy.
