Abstract

Nursing services represent a major cost to the healthcare system. The objective of this study was to adopt a nursing schedule that would minimize spending on expensive contracted nursing services for an institution's apheresis unit. This study revealed the positive impact of schedule change for patients undergoing autologous peripheral blood stem cell collection. However, the desired impact to reduce the number of apheresis procedures done by the contracted nursing service was not demonstrated.
