Abstract

Ever since being first described in the late 1980s, magnetic resonance angiography (MRA) hasemerged as the gold standard of screening tools for vascular disease. The speed of the study as well as the relative minimal invasive nature has allowed this imaging modality to become the study of choice to plan endovascular procedures as well as to perform routine follow up of these patients. The recent technologic advancements made with regard to MRA has allowed this powerful imaging tool to perform more rapid imaging while at the same time allowing for more coverage of the patient with higher spatial resolution. This article reviews the technical factors that must be taken into consideration in planning and interpreting MR angiograms as well as the applications that are most relevant to the endovascular specialist.
