Abstract

There are different modalities of stress echocardiography which can be used in the evaluation of patients with coronary artery disease. For patients who are able to exercise, treadmill and supine bicycle stress echocardiograms are preferred techniques. For patients unable to exercise, pharmacologic stress testing using dobutamine, dipyridamole, or adenosine is an alternative method to provoke ischemia. These various stress modalities will be discussed in detail in Table 12.1.
