Abstract
Although the surgical treatment of choice can vary from center to center, the medical and surgical management of Hirschsprung's disease offers an excellent chance of complete cure with a minimal incidence of morbidity and mortality. Irrespective of the surgical treatment of choice the mortality rates have been reduced from 80-95% during Hirschsprung's era to 2-7% at present. This great advancement is due mainly to early definitive diagnosis, rapid treatment and prompt surgical intervention at the most opportune time.
