Abstract

Hip arthroscopy has recently increased in popularity as a tool for the diagnostic management of intra-articular hip pathology and femoroacetabular impingement syndrome. Safe and accurate access to the hip joint is of the utmost importance when performing hip arthroscopy, and the placement of portals is a key component of safe and successful arthroscopic surgery. Multiple descriptions of portal placement in hip arthroscopy are present in the literature. In this article, we present the most commonly used portals in hip arthroscopy as well as the utility and potential risks of each portal.
