Abstract
COPD as it presents clinically, is the end result of the pathogenetic factors that are in part exogenous but can also be in part genetic. This article examines the data now available on recognized predisposing genetic factors, with special reference to α1 antitrypsin deficiency, mucoviscidosis, and so called familial emphysema.
