Abstract
Late hemorrhagic illness of the newborn is caused by deficiency of vitamin K, with different forms depending on the moment of presentation. We report the case of a 5 weeks old patient with intracranial hemorrhage as a manifestation of late hemorrhagic illness of the newborn due to deficiency of vitamin K caused by not receive vitamin K profilaxis at birth and exclusive breast feeding. We must suspect this illness when there are bleeding episodes in late neonatal and lactant period due to bad prognosis associated. Postpartum administration of vitamin K and additional oral doses of vitamin K for first month in patients with bleeding risk factors is recommended to prevent this pathology.
