Abstract

We report the case of a 39-year-old man who developed the clinical signs of neurological disorder (headache, dysarthria and right arm paresis) during the course of severe leptospirosis with acute renal failure, acute pulmonary edema and jaundice. Computed tomography and magnetic resonance images revealed the presence of bilateral multiple subdural hematomas. Leptospira can produce diffuse vasculitis with capillary damage, leading to different hemorrhagic manifestations; in the nervous system, for example, it is known to cause subarachnoid hemorrhage. We have found no reference to intracranial subdural hematoma in the literature we reviewed.
