Abstract

Interventional urology is an emerging field with the advent of new image-guided interventional techniques that present less-invasive alternatives to surgery for urologic conditions. Less-invasive percutaneous and endovascular techniques have been developed for the treatment of male varicocele and female pelvic congestion syndrome. Gonadal vein embolization has recently gained interest in the field due to favorable outcomes for both these conditions. This chapter discusses the current status of gonadal vein embolization as it pertains to male varicocele and female pelvic congestion syndrome.
