Abstract
GEDI WISE (Geriatric Emergency Department Innovations in care through Workforce, Informatics, and Structural Enhancements) is a Centers for Medicare and Medicaid Health Care Innovations Award program funded to implement and test whether an integrated, interdisciplinary approach to improving acute geriatric care emergency care would result in the triple aim: (1) better health care, (2) improved health, and (3) reduced health care costs for older adults. The program is a joint collaboration of three hospitals located in New Jersey, New York, and Illinois, that all had preexisting Geriatric ED structural spaces and partnered together with the common goals of achieving the triple aim. An overview of common features found at three sites along with and specific programs of each site is provided. Perspective on cost and resource considerations, and accounting for the needs of the patient population served and hospital capabilities is detailed.
